GOP New Hampshire lawmaker introduces legislation to make psychedelic drugs like LSD and psilocybin legal

A Republican legislator from New Hampshire has introduced a bill that would make it legal for individuals age 21 and older to possess and consume psychedelic drugs like psilocybin and LSD.
The New Hampshire measure from Rep. Kevin Verville (R) has entered the fray as state lawmakers throughout the U.S. work to enact psychedelics reform for the 2023 session.
According to the law, it would not be illegal for a person to possess or consume a hallucinogenic substance if they are at least 21 years old.
Bipartisan legislators in more than a dozen states have been working on psychedelics reform legislation so far this session, which reflects the rising support for eliminating the criminalization of natural plants and fungi and recognizing the medicinal use of some entheogens.
During the November election, Colorado voters supported a wide psychedelics legalization and psilocybin services bill, while Oregon voters backed a historic ballot initiative to legalize psilocybin for therapeutic use in 2020.
Llast month in New York, Linda Rosenthal (D) pre-filed legislation to legalize some psychedelics including psilocybin and ibogaine for individuals over the age of 21.
A revamped measure to legalize psilocybin services for adults was recently proposed by bipartisan senators from Washington State.
Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Missouri, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, Oregon, and Virginia are also working to modify the laws pertaining to psychedelics.
Momentum continues to pick up!
