There are hundreds of magic mushroom strains out there, and new ones are being created all the time. For most people, this can be very confusing. What’s the difference between Penis Envy and Golden Teacher? Which is strongest? Are some harder to cultivate than others?
We built the Spore Hunter tool to help. It's a comprehensive magic mushroom strain guide, library and experience bank. The result of hundreds of hours of labor, years of experience and the generosity of many many experts in the field.
Some considerations....
The most common species is Psilocybe cubensis, so this tool focuses on the strains within that species, although we do have some others and we will be adding all the time.
We provide background for each strain, and categorize by potency, general price, reported vibe, cultivation difficulty. Users can review strains and leave anonymous testimonials. We also provide links to experience vaults if you want to read about other peoples experiences, and places that list them as products.
There are lots of different vendors out there - we include sources that we think represent the best quality and value. We do not make any money from the sale of any products.

There’s a lot of debate around whether strains mean much of anything beyond the physical appearance of the mushroom, and potency (amount of psilocybin, psilocin, and baeocystin it contains). However, anecdotally, people do report differences in visualizations, introspection and euphoric sensations. So, we’ve done our best to collate that self-reported data so you can get a sense for what other people have experienced with each strain.
